The Triquetra, a feminine variant of the Latin word “Triquetrous”, or three cornered”; has been used for many years by various customs and traditions to represent things that are threefold. In Wicca and modern Paganism, it is most often used to represent the three forms of the Triple Goddess; Mother, Maiden, and Crone. In Christianity, it has been used similarly as a symbol of the divine Godhead consisting of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It is also used in contemporary Ireland where it is believed to represent the three promises of lasting relationships; which are love, honor, and protect.
