The mysterious stranger began to speak to Adamus. He could see in his eyes that this young lad was ready to hear great truths that the ears of few were ready to receive for Adamus had wisdom that was beyond his years. For the strength of his character could be seen within his bright blue eyes. The stranger could see that Aethelia was a learned woman as well and that she was ready to hear of such words.

“My friends you are both quite inquisitive minds and that is something that is sought after in our society. For in our order having a thirst for knowledge is considered the most noble of desires. Desire is what pushes us forward and noble desires push us closer to nobility. As new initiates into our order you shall be told a few minor truths that you both well deserve. Firstly I am called Raphatius by your friends. I came from lands far south in my youth as an indentured servant. My parents died when I was young and my uncle was a drunkard who did not wish to take care of me so I quickly left his presence but a few days after living with him. When I was a young lad I would say just a little older then you Adamus I scavenged my way through many cities as well as the countrysides. I traveled from the desert the rich shores of civilization. I worked on several ships until I decided that I would no longer deal with any harsh treatment any longer. I decided to go my own course so when the ship I was on went to port I decided to sneak off the ship despite having several more months contracted to work for the captain. I lived around the border region of Renaria and Fresasia and thus learned the languages and customs of both peoples. Through what seemed to be mere chance I met a man of mystery and through undergoing a series of trials I was inducted into this order that you two are soon to become inducted to.”

“You’re history is indeed quite fascinating. I ardently wish to learn more about the world and all secrets that are awaiting to be uncovered.” Adamus said

“In time you will learn that and so much more.” Raphatius replied

“So what trials shall we have to pass in order to become fully inducted members of the society?” Aethelia asked

“All of us here shall travel the temple of Nakosha to mountains of Akasha in order to retrieve a new manuscript that the monks have written for us. The knowledge in this manuscript is something that will give us great knowledge that may in fact change the way we see the world as it is.” Raphatius said

“What are we to do there? How shalt we offer our services on this journey?” Aethelia asked

“Your first test will be the journey itself for the mountains are cold and the steps can be treacherous. Fear not for myself and our friend Cyril and Rheon shall guide the both of you. Through this journey you shall gain new strengths and abilities that previously lie dormant in both of you.” Raphatius replied

“How do you know that such strengths are within us?” Adamus asked

“For in both you and Aethelia stem from a lineage that is unlike most. Even the royals of many great houses could not even fathom what lies in both of you. While I can not give you all of the answers that you seek I shall help you to find them for yourselves.” Raphatius replied

“Well I suppose the only way to truly know is to experience for experience is always the the greatest of teachers.” Adamus said enthusiastically

The fellowship of friends tread forth. They walked through the countryside for twenty seven days. They spent their days walking and telling one another stories and their nights were spent by the campfire. Their journey was a peaceful one however when they saw the great mountain range Aethelia and Adamus were quite astonished at how tall the highest peaks of the mountains were for they stretched above the clouds. The mountains were green at the bottom and covered with trees yet as they erected far above the clouds only the grey stone and white of the snow and of the clouds could be seen. As the fellowship gathered closer to the mountain the terrtain became more rugged until they found a flight of stairs that stretched into the sky with the mountain. This flight of stairs did not simply cut through the mountain in a straight line but it twisted and turned with the mountain.

The lower parts of the mountains were quite easy to tread but as they walked higher up the mountain the trees began to grow small and the air grew colder. Raphatius gave each of the members a thick cloak of black fur to protect them from the ever increasing cold. The cloaks were incredible thick and in conjunction with the thick fur gloves and thick shoes that Raphatius had packed they felt quite warm despite the cold of the mountains.

While the mountains were cold the air was typically still and when the sky was clear the sun would show and would make the air feel somewhat warmer. However as they climbed up the stairs and came close to where the clouds were it was nightfall and they decided to rest in a small cave that provided some sort of shelter. As they walked into the cave it was damp yet there was no snow and the cave was noticeably warmer than the outside. Rheon found some logs that had been conveniently placed at the back of the cave most likely for any potential travelers.

As the fellowship gather the wood in a pile everyone sat down. That is except for Raphatius.

“My friends you are about to witness a demonstration of my gifts. Low and beold.” Raphatius said

Raphatius put his hands together and then he moved his hands and his arms in a strange fashion. It was reminscent of some type of martial art yet it was nothing that neither Adamus or Aethelia had seen. Soon the hands of Raphatius began to glow and soon small sparkes of fire were shown to spring forth from them. Soon these sparkes became flames and these flames were spurted forth from his hands in order to light the fire. This fire was the most beautiful fire fathomable for it was not a typical fire that glowed red, orange, nor even white. This fire was a bright biolet flame and it quickly warmed the entirety of the cave and dried the once dampened floor. The embers of the fire emitted a deep regal purple and glowed like that of saphires.

“My friends this is but a portion of my aptitude for the arcane arts.” Raphatius said

“I had read books about people performing such feats but churning fire from ones fists was considered to be a feat that is legendary at best but before my eyes I have seen you perform such a work!” Aethelia exclaimed

“Yes indeed such arts have for eons been considered legendary but there are a few of us who are able to access the power within and perform feats that would be considered legendary by most. Just as our friends Cyril and Rheon have mastered one arcane art I have mastered another. Even at our levels though we are still students who are always seeking to learn more and become more. You and Adamus will begin to unravel your gifts in due time.” Raphatius replied

The fellowship cooked a delightful meal consisting of roasted chestnuts and apples that they collected while in the forest. It was a simple meal but it was quite delightful. Soon afterwards everyone fell fast asleep for their stomachs were full and they were tired after an entire day of walking up the mountain.

After a few hours Adamus was woken up by Rheon.

“My lad we need to get up and keep moving. While it is warm in this cave we must continue onwards and reach the top of the mountain.” Rheon said

The fellowship arose from their slumber and gathered their belongings and then they set forth again in the dreadfully cold air of the exterior of the mountain. After a few hours they saw the clouds themselves not as distant formations but as a surrounding thick mist. Raphatius rubed his hands together and made it so that the clouds were pushed away near them and they could see where they were. However the scope of their visibility was still limited and they could only see several cubits of stairs in front of them. Raphatius persistently waved his arms to push the clouds aside and the air became more harsh and the air grew colder. The journey felt as if it were never to end however after treading forth into the late hours of the night they had transcended all of the clouds and not only had they transcended the clouds the clouds were no longer visible and the fellowship could see the entirety of the mountain below them.

Adamus was pleased to see that the most difficult part of the journey would be less perilous. The sky was clear. As in matter of fact it was more clear then he had ever seen before. Great hues of green, blue, red, orange, and some colours that Adamus had never even seen before shown forth in the sky. The streakes of colour were somewhat like a rainbow but far greater in prominence. The lightes dances and twirled and the light of all three moones could be seen even that of the smallest moon Celadair. The air strangely began to feel warmer and soon a great mist surrounded everyone.

“We are here my friends we only have to walk but a few more paces and we shall be at the great temple.” Raphatius said

After walking through the mist for a few moments Adamus noticed that his footsteps no longer made such a sound as when walking upon snow. He looked down at his feet and realized that after walking for so long he was finally walking upon grass for such a long time. Suddenly the air felt warm. Not merely a bit warmer but almost as if they were back home on a particularly warm summer afternoon. Palm trees and ferns were seen adorning the landscape and large flowers of blue, white, and pink were shown. It was unfathomable how flora was found at the heights of the largest of mountaintops much more flora that hailed from the southernmost reaches of the known world. To Adamus and more so Aethelia who always considered themselves to be more rational of folk such sights were simply out of place in the world. Little did they know that this was only the beginning of extraordinary matters that they would come to face with.

The pathway was no longer a collection of stones that became ever more so eroaded as when they went upwards but the pathway was a splendid brick pathway that was painted red. Various ferms and plants with broad red leaved adorned the sides of the pathway. Terro trees that produced bountiful terro fruit that was blue as the sky adorned the trees. The soil was clearly rich and fertile more so then anywhere else in the known world.

At least the fellowship reached the temple and it was truly a sight to behold. The temple was coloured brightly red and white. Each corner of the temple had a pagoda with multiple tiers aligned with gold. The temple appeared to be about three hundred cubits in length from the front although it was difficult to determine how big the facility truly was. Statues of bearded dragons, griffons, great boars, and other beasts of legend adorned the temple. They were made with such precision that they appeared they would jump and bring themselves into action at a moment's notice.

The great gates of the temple opened slowly and a figure came out of the doors. The man was quite tall most likely about seven cubits in height. He had crescent shaped eyes and tan skin that nearly appeared orange. He wore a robe that was orange in a truer sense of the word. His head and his face were both absent of hair with the exception of his stark eyebrows stark eyebrows and faint eyelashes. He was very slender yet strong as could be seen from having his left breast covered. Clearly he was a diligent man who was a man of strength judging from his body and posture and a man of wisdom by looking at the wisdom contained within his eyes. He walked towards the fellowship and greeted them.

“Hata shi, welcome my friend my name is Taunzhao and I have been expecting your arrival for quite some time. It is my pleasure to be of your acquaintance.”

As I read this entry... It felt like a combination of Lords of the Ring and portions of Dr. Strange, when he went through his initiation with the Ancient One. Raphatius reminds me of the wise professor from Harry Potter... This is all so very well structured and written for a rough draft entry Andrew... However, I am curious, tell us where do you draw your inspiration from?

Honestly my ideas sort of come to me. The truth is all writing is autobiographical in a sense so think about it. What are my main interests and what characterists especially define me? The more you know who I am the more you shall know the words which I put forth in writing.

“I am much obliged to meet you great master of masters” Raphatius said as he gracefully bowed before the monk.

“It is an honor and a privilege to meet all of you. I realize that your journey was indeed quite treacherous however being a fine practitioner of Qui-Dao you were able to escort your company to the mountaintop of Akasha.” Tuanzhao said

“Master Tuanzhao, I beg an answer as to how how the top of a mountain can be warm and filled with life rather than be desolate?” Adamus asked

“When there is spirit there is life.” The master replied

“What do you mean by those words?” Adamus asked

“In time you will know the meaning and much more. Now all of you come with me. I shall show you to your quarters.” Tuanzhao replied

The master of masters showed the way to the fellowship. They went up the stairs of the great temple and saw more monks performing various feats of physical prowess and skill. There were monks who were deflecting spears that were thrown at them at a rapid pace. Some were standing upon slender polls and with only one foot on the base and another in the air. There was a monk who was teaching other monks the art of transmutation with water. These monks transformed water into snow and then ice and then back into water all in a matter of seconds. These were but a few feats that the monks were capable of.

“I know what you are thinking Adamus. You are wondering how such acts be possible. When one’s mind is accepting of all then all shall reveal itself unto you.” Tuanzhao said

“How did you know my name?” Adamus asked

“I have received words of your skill. I have been waiting for you for many years and have looked forward to the day when I would finally get to meet you now let me show you the interior of our home.” The master replied

The master knocked upon the great bronze doors three times and they opened very slowly. The room was alight with light as the top of the roof was of coloured glass that allowed for light to come through as well as providing a beautiful display of vivid colour. The floor was of very smooth sediment that looked like sand yet it was solid and shined it the light. The corridors of the temple had esteemed columns that were as slender as ribbons and flying buttresses which had some type of ancient writing carved into them.

In the center of the hallway laid a great jade sphere that was several cubits in width. This sphere glowed a magnificent bright green and had inscriptions on it that were in an ancient script that few even knew existed. The script glowed as a piercing white and even looking upon the sphere gave one an impression that there was a great amount of power beheld within this object.

“My friends this is the center of the temple and you are the first visitors in a very long time to come to this temple. The last time someone visited here was in matter of fact brother Tsangha visited our temple as a youth. Only a few years your elder Adamus.” The master stated

“Tsangha?” Adamus murmured

“Yes that was the name the monks bestowed upon me in honor of learning the arts of the ancients.” Raphatius said

“You came here before in your youth?” Aethelia asked in a very surprised manner

“Yes I trained with the monks of akasha in my youth. They helped me in more ways than one to unleash my abilities and use them to a higher potential. We all have the forces of qui and cho’dao as the monks call them it is for us to learn how to use these forces.” Raphatius replied

“This sounds similar to the ancient Levatians spoke of using the aether within to unlock great powers.” Adamus said

“People from many parts of the world have found ways to access the great powers my young friend. While they may be named different things in different tongues they are in many ways the same.” Master Tuanzhao replied.

“I have never thought of it that way before.” Adamus replied

“Now let me show you to your quarters. You all have a long day ahead of you tomorrow” The master said

Everyone was shown to their dormitories to rest. However the young Adamus being the inquisitive boy he was dared not to merely lie in his bed awaiting anxiously. So after everyone else at the temple had fallen asleep Adamus went up to explore the rest of the temple. First he walked through the and back to the center of the temple with the great sphere in the center. He drew closer to the great piece of jade and marveled at its splendour. As he drew closer he could have sworn that he heard a voice in the midst but it was indistinguishable to his ears.

For some odd reason he felt a desire to touch the sphere. His curiosity overcame him and he did so. The sphere began to emit a strange yet soothing type of singing. Moments later he began to grow tired and so he decided to go back to his bed to lie down. Moments later he began to fall asleep however the initiation of his slumber was not typical. He began to see many colors some of which he had never gazed upon before.

Out of the colours a portal began to manifest and he felt drifted towards it. In a few moments he was no longer in his room any more. A great portal of violet, blue, and black sprawled force and Adamus slowly drifted through it. He felt as light as a feather and held no fear despite being in such an unfamiliar situation. In this state it felt that time itself did not exist and that he was at complete peace with everything.

Soon afterwards he began to descend downwards in the great spiral of light and darkness and soon he found his feet on the ground. In but a few moments he realized that he was in an unfamiliar setting. The sky was coloured brightly consisting of various hues of blue and green that danced persistently. The stars were coloured bright as flames and were far larger than Adamus had ever seen before. The three familiar moons were not present rather a single large moon that looked like a sphere of luminescent ice.

As Adamus looked around he saw no sight of animals although he did see some magnificent butterflies that glowed brightly in the dark night. Some of the plants glowed as well. There were mushrooms of three cubits in height that shown brightly and helped to light the surroundings like campfires. Adamus looked onward and saw a circle of stones. Thirteen smaller stones with one great stone in the middle. Clearly someone had brought them there and he figured that some people must have inhabited this area or at least they did some time ago.

Adamus walked onwards and found a small pool of water that was completely transparent. He could he the bottom of the water and all of the rocks and fishes that swam in it. He decided to wade in the water for a short while and felt very relaxed enjoying these lovely surroundings. However after some time he heard footsteps. He decided to get out of the water and walk away however it was only moments later that he heard a voice call out.

“Hullo thar! I know zhat you are hear. I felt your presence the moment you entered my realm.” A voice called

Adamus thought what he should do. He considered hiding but he figured that if whomever this was knew about his whereabouts perhaps it would be better to confront this person. He decided to walk towards this voice and out from the shadows a man with a lantern approached him. He was slightly tall. Just shy of six feet. He wore a robe of purple and gold and had two silver earrings in his left ear. He had olive coloured skin with oiled hair that stretched just past his ears and a pointed beard that was oiled and black just as his hair was. What was most striking especially were his eyes which were violet and glowed like flames.

“ Now what ye be doin here? How did you stumble into my realm?” The man said

“In earnest I have no idea. I figured that I was sleeping and simply walking about in a dream.” Adamus said

“Well you know often times dreams are more than just dreams boy!” The man said

“I suppose you’re right. I’ve always felt that my dreams were something more. My uncles told me about the ancient seers and the revelations they would have. I know I’m talented but I never figured I had such powers.” Adamus said

“Well you are a mighty special one aye! I know of your realm and have visited it long ago. It has been eons since I have had a visitor from your realm.”

“I did read about how the boundaries between the mortal world Lundair and aetherias were cut long ago. This happened thousands of years ago in my world and many of the maesters today think this was just a legend.” Adamus replied

“It sure was no legend. The bonds between realms have been cut for a very long time. Only the greatest of souls from your realm have experienced the wonders of aetherias among other realms.” The man said

“Perhaps I am one of those great souls. Earnestly it is difficult to comprehend. I always felt I was special and granted I am somewhat prideful but even so I never suspected that I had the ability of a seer.” Adamus said

“You have the abilities of the ancient seers and much more. When you entered my realm I could sense that you were a being of great power. You are very young and you are only now realizing you are much more than most.” The man said

“What do you mean?” Adamus asked

“Let us go inside and we shall discuss this matter further.” The man said

“I shall follow suit. By the way. Might I ask of your name?” Adamus asked

“How rude of me not to properly introduce myself. I have gone by many names in many lifetimes however as of now I refer to myself as Valkier.” The man said

“That is a very interesting name indeed. By the way my name is Adamus.”

“I am glad to meet you Adamus. Let me show you to my sanctuary.” Valkier said

After a short walk Adamus and Valkier came to a stone tower. The tower was of white stone with ivy and various flowers growing at the base of it. On the top of the tower the roof was pointed and blue. Surrounding the tower was a river which traced its way from a great waterfall about one hundred cubits away. The water glowed a bright blue in the midst of night that radiated like fireflies. The tower itself was surrounded by thirteen stone pillars which had runes on them and each one depicted the figure of a different type of animal. Some of which were chimarical such as the tiger-hawk, the griffen, the catdeer, however the others were not familiar to the eyes of Adamus.

They approached the door and once inside of the tower Adamus was amazed by the great illumination of the room. He saw countless shelves of books as well as weapons and armour mounted throughout the walls. There were also maps of various lands all of which were unfamiliar except for one which showed the continent of metta-eterius where the Iselian elves lived.

“Adamus come here by the fire place and sit. I would like to hear more of you and your travels.” Valkier said

Adamus sat down as Valkier gathered some logs for the fireplace and he sat down. Valkier gathered some coloured stoned and made a few sparkes and in but a few moments the logs were ablaze. They emitted a deep violet flame. Adamus was amazed for he had never seen violet fire before.

“You’re quite impressed with my realm and the wonders that it beholds I take it.” Valkier said

“Yes indeed. I have had obscure visions in dreams before but never one such as vivid and lifelike such as this.” Adamus replied

“Well I do not know of the entirety of your past but I can sense that your spirit is more powerful. You have a high amount of Kein within you. This surely must be connected. Are your parents involved in the arcane arts by any chance?” Valkier inquired

“Actually I have no recall of my blood parents. I was set at the doorstep of two brothers named Cyril and Rheon who I refer to as my uncles. They along with their good friend Aethelia have raised me as their own.” Adamus replied

“I know that you must wonder why your kin left you with them. I am sure that this was for a reason. Often things such as these are destined by fate long before we are born.” Valkier said

“Perhaps you are right. I feel no ill will towards my parents I simply wish I knew as to why I was placed in the care of my uncles. Still I am very grateful for the life I have with them. They have tought me so much.” Adamus said

“I feel that there was a very important reason as to why this has happened. I feel that you are of blood that is unlike most of your world.”

“Would you have any sort of idea about my origins?”

“Perhaps I could look within my vast library but that will very likely take a very long time to make any sort of conclusion. I’m most sorry. So much information in all of the worlds yet even my mind can not discover everything in but an instant.”

“I understand. Well if you ever do find anything then please tell me.” Adamus replied

“Assuredly I shall do so for you.” Valkier said as he smiled.

After these words Adamus felt his body being pulled by some strange type of force. He felt as though he was fading from this place. He felt that like a moth to a flame he was to return to from whence he came.

“It appears you stay here has expire but do not worry dear friend we shall meet again some day.” Valkier replied.

Adamus felt himself float upwards and flew up into the sky once again. A vortex of green appeared before him and he was brought forth through it. Once again he saw the various alinements of stars and heavenly bodies dance about in the sky. He knew that he was heading back to from whence he came. A mere instant later he felt a large thud and realized he was back in his bed. He awoke and was momentarily perplexed as to where he was was but realized that he was back in his quarters where he went to sleep.

A knock was heard on the door. Adamus could instantly tell that it was uncle Cyril by the way he knocked on the door in a light but rapid manner.

“Wake up Adamus it is nearly mid day and the monks have much prepared a feast for us in our honor.” Cyril said

“I shall be ready soon.” Adamus replied

Adamus changed his clothing and went with his uncle to garden district where his family, friends, and the monks were eating. They were seated at a table with no chairs and were sitting under some magnificent palm trees provided ample shade from the sun. Various arrangements of fruits and vegetables could be seen. The monks were speaking to each other in their own language while his friends and family were conversing in the common tongue. Admus sat down next to his uncle Cyril and Raphatius.

“I see you slept long Adamus. You must be tired from from your travels. Still you slept for a longer time then the rest of us. Are you alright?” Raphatius asked

“It probably was the trip. It was a long and hard walk up the mountain.”

“Yes it was.” Raphatisus said

“Anyways I have so much to ask about this place. Who are these people and why have I never heard of them before? Also how is it warm at the mountaintop when the tops of mountains are usually covered in snow?” Adamus asked

“Well the top of the mountain is warm due to it being a center of great spiritual energy that comes from the Jade Sphere in the center of the temple complex. We walked by it when we first entered the temple.”

“I see. I still have so much to learn. Even though my uncles have taught me a little about the arcane arts I had little clue about how much is still possible.”

“You are seeing only the first of many miracles Adamus” Raphatius said

Master Tuanzhao came walking about. He greeted the fellowship and asked them how their stay was. When he came over to Adamus his face suddenly changed.

“Young boy something has happened to you. Something that you have not revealed thus far.” Tuanzhao said

Adamus was surprised how quickly the master realized that something was afoot.

“What happened last night Adamus please tell us?” Raphatius asked

“How do you know something happened?” Adamus asked

“I can sense a change of energy in your spirit.” Tuanzhao replied

“Well if you must know I walked about the temple and touched the Jade Sphere. I was so fascinated by the power it emanated. I feel that it called to me and I was drawn forth to it.” Adamus replied

“The sphere does call those who are ready to access its power. Normally it takes our kind decades to prepare to receive its power. If one is unprepared there can be dire consequences. It appears that you thought were able to handle this great power with ease. You have a special type of spirit. You even changed the color of the sphere with your energy. That has never been seen before.” Taunzhao replied

“You’re a gifted lad Adamus you should never forget that.” Raphatius replied

“Normally one needs to be very cautious when attenting such energy but there have been those rare few who are called by unseen forces and are meant to use this great power.” Taunzhao replied

“After touching the sphere I instantly felt very tired and weak. I felt the sudden urge to sleep.” Adamus replied

“You were acquiring energies that were foreign to your body. As you slept your body had to adjust to them. When a monk first absorbs this energy they often sleep for weeks and this is after they have prepared extensively for many years. If one is not ready they may sleep for an entire month. There was one monk who was only sixteen years of age and went to the sphere despite headings from his mentor and he fell asleep for three full moons. He eventually woke but by then he was thin and it took him a long time to gain his strength again. You are fortunate that this did not happen to you.” Tuanzhao said

“Did you ever touch the sphere Raphatious?” Adamus asked

“Yes I did. After 12 years of rigorous study and meditation the sphere called to me and the council gave me their approval. I touched the sphere and it glowed red as burning embers and I was given the gift of fire.”

“Is everyone given a gift?” Adamus asked

“Only those that are worthy.” Tuanzhao replied

“Well last night I had a dream but it was unlike any other. I dreampt that I flew into the sky and crossed through the heavens and went to another world. I met a strange man named Valkier. We talked for some time and I was pulled back to my bed and awoke suddenly.” Adamus said

Tuanzhao looked at him with astonishment as his eyes grew wide. He knew exactly what had happened.

“You have been gifted with aetherial travel. You can travel from our world to aetherias and other worlds by way of the spirit body. This so happened to be the gift that I was bestowed over seventy years ago when I first touched the sphere.” Tuanzhao replied

“Wait a moment I can travel worlds? You’re how old? How is all of this possible?” Adamus asked

Here in the great east we remember much that the men of the west have forgotten. The high spiritual energy here keeps us young for a very long time. The downside is we are largely confined to these quarters in isolation from the rest of the world. Many of us here are very old in years but we are young in appearance. I am one hundred and eleven myself. Some here are much older than myself. The previous master before me master Yonten lived for two hundred and thirty years.
